Leaving

There's no going back,

No dwelling on my hatred

The dire states have won

I've given into fierce temptation

I will not see your face

and feel such dread each morning.

Hours spent in fear that

left with rage and hurting.

I will not hear your voice,

demeaning and distrustful.

Convincing me I'm wrong,

unwanted and unhelpful.

I will not feel the drain

of your presence reach my heart.

As I walk away from all I've known

to play a different part.

Partings becomes bliss,

my thoughts return to stable.

I will not doubt myself

nor dwell on your malice.
