On a walk

Western winds breath your name, dispelling dread.
Oaks and buckeyes wake to declare you near.
Winged signs descend to rouse your sacred bed.
A daybreak vulture in a vast verdant temple,
Lands delicate and noiseless overhead,
As if to appraise the deeds of this passerby,
Who did rise today to hear your wild tread.
