Bargain

Rough canvas bags and dotted lines
You sought out a soul in a plundered mine
From whence you came, cruel and kind
Destined to betray the bargained minds

I’d trade the time it took to gather light
To give myself a fighting chance to fight
No way, No trick, no trade, no trance
Can ever shake your notarized iron grip

My heels rubbed raw
My hands casually callused
My heart held hostage
My hymns have lost it

If I’m tethered to your binding insincerity
Maybe I’ll take this one risk to be free
Velvet wrapped around smoke filled trees
To hide the truth, the wish that let me be
