Solitary

She planted foxglove and hemlock in her seaside flowerbeds,

and praised them with love and patience each day they grew, well-fed.

She saw the tides turning, churning off the edges of tall cliffs below

and knew timeless peace and worshiped of the gods of ebb and flow.

She danced with wild winds around her, unmoving and entangled,

and wove ballads of endless love to med her tattered soul, once mangled.

She greeted the day with kindness of one who feels earth's flow

and watched the seasons pass, each one the same yet fresh, aglow.

She was content and free on her seldom taken path,

and eternity welcomed her when she called her beginning back.
